Operating and assembly instructions for quartz cuckoo clocks

Setting up a quartz cuckoo clock is somewhat easier than setting up a mechanical cuckoo clock with a clockwork. Below, we have compiled the most important information for setting up a quartz cuckoo clock from the manufacturer Anton Schneider. Other manufacturers have very similar instructions for installing their quartz cuckoo clocks.

1. The hands are usually factory-set to the 12 o'clock position. If not, please set the clock to 12:00 yourself.
2. If your clock has music, set the switch on the left side of the cuckoo clock to the "Music off" position.
3. Open the back cover of the cuckoo clock and insert three "Baby" type batteries as indicated in the battery holder, paying attention to the + and - signs.
4. Attach the pendulum to the pendulum extension and the weights to the designated hooks on the chains under the clock. Close the back cover and hang the cuckoo clock on the wall. There is a hole at the back of your cuckoo clock for secure hanging. Please use a suitable large screw/hook and a dowel for this purpose.
5. Turn the minute hand clockwise to the next full hour (1 o'clock) and count the number of cuckoo calls. The cuckoo should generally call once after each new battery installation. You can then proceed directly to the next step:
6. Set the current time by turning the minute hand clockwise until the clock shows the desired time. Important: Allow the cuckoo to fully finish calling at each passing full hour!
7. If the number of cuckoo calls does not match the hour shown on the dial, gently turn the hour hand to the hour indicated by the cuckoo call without moving the cuckoo clock's minute hand. Once the cuckoo call and the hour are synchronized, you can continue to set the correct time as described in step 6.
8. Most quartz cuckoo clocks nowadays have an automatic night shut-off using a light sensor. The cuckoo will only call in a sufficiently bright room, and all clock sounds will automatically turn off at dusk.
9. In addition to the light sensor, there is a switch on the left side of the clock that allows you to manually turn off the cuckoo and/or music. You can choose from the following positions: "Music on," "Music off" (cuckoo call is on), "Off" (music and cuckoo call are turned off). This applies only to cuckoo clocks with music. Not all quartz cuckoo clocks have music.
10. The batteries need to be replaced if the bird door no longer opens or closes, if the cuckoo clock runs too slowly, or if the cuckoo does not call anymore or not fully.
